Combating Mesquite infestations with advanced herbicides

Managing mesquite brush on rangeland and pastureland can be a challenging and costly task. Traditional methods such as hand sprays and mechanical removal are labor-intensive, often damaging the native plant community and promoting regrowth. To address these concerns, we present three highly effective herbicides: Sendero + Remedy Ultra by Corteva and Invora by Envu. These products offer consistent control of mesquite down to the roots, without harming native grasses, improving wildlife habitat, rangeland health, and increasing productivity.

Timing is key

To effectively treat different types of Mesquite, you can combine Sendero and Remedy Ultra. Sendero works well for honey mesquite, but if you’re dealing with western honey or velvet mesquite, it’s recommended to include Remedy in your mixture. This combination will enhance the effectiveness of your spray and yield better results.

Proper conditions are required for acceptable honey mesquite control with herbicide applications:

  • Proper application window (42 to 90 days post-bud break)
  • Soil temperatures higher than 75℉ at 12″ below the soil surface in the shade
  • Mesquite leaf condition is good, with only dark green growth indicating mature foliage
  • Minimal insect, rodent, and weather injury to leaves and trees
  • Soil moisture through the season that is adequate for proper leaf development

Get your grass back with Invora

If you privately own non-hayed rangeland or perennial grasslands, consider Invora. Invora Herbicide delivers an extended treatment life to manage undesirable brush, giving ranchers the opportunity to restore their rangeland.

“It’s like we planted seeds when we sprayed with Invora Herbicide. It’s amazing that by taking out the canopy and the competition from the mesquites, the grasses have come back.”

Revitalize your rangeland

Combatting mesquite infestations on rangelands requires a comprehensive and efficient approach. Sendero herbicide stands out as the standard for consistent mesquite control, ensuring long-lasting eradication while preserving native grasses and wildlife habitats. Invora Herbicide offers innovative chemistry for extended brush management, contributing to rangeland restoration. Additionally, Remedy Ultra provides powerful brush control with minimal impact on desirable grasses.

By employing these advanced herbicides, land managers can reclaim productive forage, restore rangeland health, and create a more sustainable environment for both livestock and wildlife.
