VectoLex® WSP
A water-soluble formulation that is ideal for treatment of closed habitats, such as catch basins/storm drains and other small breeding sites.
Product Information
Description
VectoLex WSP contains the active ingredient Bacillus sphaericus 2362 (strain ABTS-1743). The potency of VectoLex WSP is 50 Bs International Toxin Units (Bs ITU) per milligram against Culex quinquefasciatus larvae. VectoLex WSP is a water-soluble pouch containing VectoLex FG.
Features
- Works extremely well in polluted, closed habitats such as catch basins
- Provides the industry most target-specific biorational for residual control of West Nile virus vectors
- The microbial mode of action allows for easy, on-site efficacy evaluations
- VectoLex fermentation consistency and pharmaceutical-grade standards significantly reduce lot-to-lot variation relative to other manufacturers, providing greater peace of mind
Where & When to Use
VectoLex WSP is a water-soluble pouch containing VectoLex FG. The formulation is ideal for treatment of closed habitats such as catch basins/storm drains and other small breeding sites. The pouch is placed directly into the breeding site and is very useful for control of West Nile virus (WNV) vectors in urban and suburban areas. Under typical environmental conditions, VectoLex WSP provides up to 4 weeks of control in catch basins/storm drains.
Suggested use rate for closed habitats such as catch basins, storm drains, and similar habitats is 1 pouch per unit (e.g., 1 pouch per catch basin). Reapply as needed every 1-4 weeks.
Suggested use rate for open habitats is 1 pouch per 50 ft2 (4.6 m2). Reapply as needed every 1-4 weeks.
Mode of Action
The larvae ingest the insecticide, consisting of Bs spores produced by the bacteria. Only when activated by the larva’s specific gut PH and enzymes, do the spores become toxic, causing damage to the gut of the mosquito. Mortality rate is dependent on consumption of the Bs by 1st through early 4th instar larvae. The product is quick acting and highly effective against a number of mosquito species and its long term residual makes it ideal for use in a wide number of permanent aquatic habitats.
